Designers celebrate ETSY debut with show
Local designers and residents of the Austin DIY community Curry Beth Dunckel and Shari Gerstenberger have recently branched out to feature their goods on Etsy (www.etsy.com), the international website that offers an online marketplace for designers. The duo's respective collections offer a distinctly different design aesthetic, by way of Dunckel's line of feminine and flirty dresses (www.currybeth.etsy.com) and Gerstenberger's jewelry and accessories crafted from nontraditional materials like snake vertebrae and antlers (www.mutualadmiration.etsy.com), but the simultaneous launch is a dream realized for these two longtime friends. "We both combine the old and the new in our choice of materials and our designs, so our sensibilities are very complimentary even if our final products are very different," said Gerstenberger. To celebrate their launch, the two are holding a trunk show at Parts and Labour (1117 S. Congress Ave. 512-326-1648, www.partsandlabour.com) tonight at 7.
